handfelted pieces

MY HANDFELTED PIECES

The handfelted garments place the principle of sustainability into the center of focus and follow personal intuitions. All pieces are largely focused on textiles.

These are outfits inspired by ancient forms and methods, garments that are telling stories… The pieces are wearable, durable, somewhat rebellious, feminine clothes and accessories. Functionality and comfort are really important for me during the designing process. I use luxury materials like premium quality wool, silk, cotton, linen or GOTS-certified textiles.

TECHNIQUES

Wet felting technique

Wool felt is a nonwoven textile composed of loose fibers which are matted together to form a continuous material. Felt is one of the oldest man-made textiles. To produce felt, raw wool undergoes a wet felting process that involves matting, condensing and pressing the fibers.

Wool Felt is high quality, sustainable, 100% biodegradable.

Wool felt is resistance to flame and compression, and thermal and sound insulation. Lanolin, the thin waxy coating on wool fibers, makes wool naturally water and soil resistant.

Ditta Felt handfelted garments uses extra fine austral merino wool.  Merino sheep are prized for their fine hair and considered to be the highest quality sheep’s wool..

Because of the dyeing technique I can’t reproduct this piece totally. I gladly take custom orders and I can reproduct this item’s form and style, but the colours won’t be completely the same.
